Kate O’Beirne, Bad Person

I don’t know if Keith Olberman still does his “Worst Person In The World” bit, I haven’t tuned in lately, but here, here it is, without a doubt, this week’s no brainer pick for Worst Person In The World. Openly displaying standard Republican contempt for All People Who Are Not Them, we have National Review editor Kate O’Beirne, with this astonishing rhetorical treasure:

“My question is what poor excuse for a parent can’t rustle up a bowl of cereal and a banana? I just don’t get why millions of school children qualify for school breakfasts unless we have a major wide spread problem with child neglect.”

Really, she did, she said that. I’m not making this up. She said that at a Republican strategy session she was moderating. At a time when many American families are struggling to merely survive, she has the blue blooded arrogance to vomit a thing like that. Actually, it is Marie Antoinette’s famous “let them eat cake” comment, updated just in time for the holidays. I can barely get my brain around it, it’s so disgusting.

Here’s better commentary than I can offer at Crooks and Liars.

This will be all over the blog-o-sphere and it should be. This is not something she can take back, though I expect she may try in some pathetic backpedaling damage control effort. She said what she meant. And she spoke precisely and accurately for the party of sadism and greed that she represents. Here is the specimen:
