Whirled Serious

Farce. The notion that the SF Giants are motley crew this, misfits that, can’t hit, all rookies and no depth, blah blah. Nicely done, letting people think that. Actually it was all true. But, while everyone else may have believed that, seems the Giants didn’t get the memo. They figure they’re a great team. I figure it’s been quite impossible to say otherwise, in this entirely unpredicted post-season. There’s no gimmick, and there’s no star, they don’t even have a heavy slugger. Uribe is the closest thing to that, and he delivers big time. But it’s not all about him, or the pitching, or any individual. They are a team, that plays well together. Like you hope your kid learns to do in Little League. They have a lot of talent, and superb, under-appreciated coaching.
Tonight will be interesting. Rangers were wobbly yesterday. In Game 2, I bet we’ll see two strong teams. Absolutely anything could happen in this series. This is exciting. And I didn’t think I’d find myself saying that about major league baseball again. Go Gigantes.
